New testing centre open in St Anns
An important message from Harrow Council:
The Covid infection rate continues to rise, with the latest data showing that in Harrow there are 948 infected people per 100,000.
As we continue to battle this deadly virus, we're pleased to announce that fast, free Covid tests are now available in St Anns shopping centre for anyone aged 16 and above without Covid symptoms.
Book yours at harrow.gov.uk/test.
By checking that you’re Covid free, you’re helping to protect your family and everyone around you. If you come into contact with people as part of your job, you should get tested every week.
These tests are for people without any symptoms. 1 in 3 people with coronavirus don't display symptoms, but they can still pass it on. Testing helps find these people and break the chain of infection.
If you have a fever, a persistent cough or have noticed a change in your sense of taste or smell, do not book one of these tests. You should self-isolate at home and arrange your test via www.nhs.uk or by calling 119. Everyone you live with should also self-isolate.
How do I get a test in the town centre?
Book a slot at harrow.gov.uk/test. Further sites will soon open across the borough to join the one in St Anns.
Go to your appointment at the time of your booking - don’t forget your face mask! The test is easy - you will be asked to take a swab from your throat and nose. It doesn’t hurt and there’ll be help on hand if you need it.
The test takes minutes, with a result sent your phone or email address in half an hour.
Make testing a regular habit – if you frequently leave your home for shopping or work, for childcare or another permitted reason, you’re likely to be at greater risk – get a test every week.
What happens if I test positive?
If you test positive you should immediately go home and self-isolate, so you can’t pass Covid on to anyone else. Everyone you live with should also self-isolate.
You will need to confirm your result by taking another test. You should book this second test by visiting www.nhs.uk or calling 119.
Testing is one of the tools that will help us to defeat Covid and get back to a more normal life. With cases soaring, Harrow faces an unprecedented challenge. Please do your bit by following the lockdown rules and regularly getting a Covid test.
